Two of the most common reasons that Samsung dryers fail is related to the heating element and the idler assembly. Most often, when the dryer has no heat, the element assembly needs to be replaced.
It is recommended that the idler assembly be replaced at the same time if it is not the upgraded part with the ball bearings. If not, it will eventually fail. The idler assembly is what puts tension on the belt and holds it in place so the drum can turn. If it falls off, the dryer won’t start because there is a switch that detects its presence.
A failing idler assembly can also cause the dryer to be noisy. Failing bearings are another reason for a noisy Samsung dryer. They can contribute to a “rumbling” sound.
